Michael has a Diploma in Art and Design (Hons) London, and studied under David Poole (President of the Royal Society of Portrait painters), Anthony Eyton RA, Ben Levine RA, Dick Lee, David Hepher and others at Wimbledon and Camberwell Schools of Art, between 1968 and 1973.
He paints mainly oil, (but sometimes water-colour) landscapes, still lives, portraits and other subjects. He accepts commissions, and his work can be found in various collections in Canada, the USA, Switzerland, Germany, Corsica and the United Kingdom.

A series of over 50 small Porthmeor Paintings were shown at the Tate Gallery, St Ives in their "Century of Images" exhibition from April to October 1995. Most of these paintings were on display again in the1997 exhibition at the Camborne School of Mines Gallery. A selection can be seen in our Century of Images page.
Michael has three paintings in the Cornwall County Education Collection which houses a collection of selected paintings, sculpture and ceramics from Cornwall's greatest artists including : Dame Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron, Bernard Leach and others. The works can be loaned by schools across Cornwall to provide their pupils with examples of good art.
He has three paintings in the Cheltenham and Gloucester Building Society Collection which house major works by various artists including Augustus John.
Two paintings were chosen by the late Hazel Burston for acceptance into the permanent collection of the Penlee House Gallery, Penzance, which opened in November 1997.
A large painting of
St. Martin-in-the-Fields is on show in the Church in Trafalgar Square,
London, to help raise money for their £34 million restoration appeal. Michael's
paintings have raised funds by auction for various charities among others
including Great Ormond Street Hospital - London, St Julia's Hospice - Cornwall,
West Cornwall Hospital. He regularly has paintings sold at Christies (London) in
aid of Cancer Research.
